CAPSTONE COMMUNITY ACTION provides comprehensive services to help people achieve economic well-being with dignity and develops partnerships to strengthen Vermont Communities. Our commitment is to alleviate the suffering caused by poverty, to work with individuals and families to move out of poverty, and to advocate for economic justice for all Vermonters.CAPSTONE COMMUNITY ACTION was organized as a nonprofit corporation in 1965 as part of the war on poverty. While causes and issues have come and gone in Washington, D. C., we've held fast to our vision of creating opportunities for Vermonters to receive education and training, to work, and to live in decency and dignity. Our mission is as timely today as it was in 1965. Poverty still exists.Our agency serves low-income Vermonters, within Lamoille, Orange and Washington counties as well as parts of Windsor, Rutland and Addison counties. We believe that the people of central Vermont deserve opportunities to overcome poverty. Your work with the communities of central Vermont will create those opportunities. Your actions can make a difference. All of our programs were once just good ideas. Community Action helped make these ideas reality - thanks to people like you who are involved and committed.
